COVID-19 Outbreak At Correctional Centre

Officials with the Thunder Bay District Health Unit (TBDHU) declare a COVID-19 outbreak at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre (TBCC).

Shawn Bradshaw, the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) representative, confirmed to Acadia News that as of March 1st, a dozen staff members are off of work either for their own self-isolation or for a family member, while 23 inmates are infected with the virus.

Bradshaw also noted that recently, all staff were mandated to undergo swabbing every time they report to work.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
