Thunder Bay’s school boards are reporting the first school-related COVID-19 case of the school year.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit is investigating a case connected to Westgate CVI.
Lakehead Public Schools is working with the health unit to manage any exposures to the virus, and identifying anyone who may be a high or low-risk contact of this person.
Health officials will contact any affected staff, teachers, or visitors, and parents and caregivers will hear from the health unit if your child is affected.
Higher-risk contacts will have to isolate, but the board says entire cohorts don’t need to be excluded from school or activities at this time.
They will continue to look into the situation over the next few days.
