City Council has made the decision to close off tonight’s Committee of the Whole meeting to members of the media.
The meeting was already off-limits to members of the public due to the COVID-19 virus.
The decision was made following Ontario’s order prohibiting organized gatherings of more than five people.
Media will cover the meeting through the city’s live treat, Shaw Cable or Tbaytel channels.
Only the Chairs of Committee of the Whole and Council Councillor Mark Bentz and Mayor Bill Mauro will attend in person together with City Clerk Krista Power and City Manager Norm Gale and one other person for technical support. Councillors and other members of the administration will join by phone.
On March 23, City Council enacted new provisions for electronic participation to support the conduct of meetings by teleconference.
