The Ontario government has launched an independent commission into COVID-19 and long-term care.
Premier Doug Ford explains three commissioners will investigate how the coronavirus spread within long-term care homes.
Two-thirds of COVID-19 deaths in Ontario have linked to seniors who lived in those homes, mostly in southern Ontario.
“No stone will be left unturned because our seniors deserve nothing less and our government will support hat work all the way. I look forward to receiving their report next spring,” says Ford.
The minister responsible for long-term care Merrilee Fullerton adds, “The people of Ontario deserve a timely, transparent and non-partisan investigation.”
Frank Marrocco, the judge who worked on the Walkerton inquiry will lead the Long Term Care Commission.
