Confederation College is wrapping up their first-ever Sexual Assault and Sexual Violence Awareness and Prevention Week.
It’s to remind staff and students about what resources are available to help prevent harassment and to help victims.
Earlier in the week, the college hosted speakers on issues like consent and the impact of sexual assault.
President Jim Madder says it’s also encouraging people to discuss and get familiar with the college’s sexual violence policy, which has been in place for 2 years.
Madder says many people have a narrow understanding of what sexual violence is, or aren’t sure what qualifies as violence.
Student Union President Jodi Connor says they want to make sure students and staff know the college is there to support victims of sexual assault or violence.
She says Confederation hosted a fair on Thursday to help students learn about prevention and support services outside of the college.
