City Readies Outdoor Spaces, Golf & Tennis

Now that the provincial government has greenlit the reopening of city outdoor recreational spaces, parks staff will be out in full force inspecting the sites.

Mayor Bill Mauro reminds you to follow physical distancing rules while out enjoying the outdoors.

“If an individual arrives at an outdoor space that’s crowded, they should wait until they can physical distance, or return at another time,” Mauro said.

The Mayor says it could take some time before all of the city’s outdoor spaces are opened again.

All city-run golf courses are open starting Friday.

Players are asked to read up on health and safety rules before heading out to Chapples and Strathcona golf courses.

On Saturday, the Thunder Bay Community Tennis Centre will reopen to the public. Tennis will be permitted for singles and limited doubles play and again there will be COVID-19 precautions in place.
