City Officials Lobby Ministers On Local Issues

It was a virtual whirlwind for the city delegates involved in a rural municipal conference.

The group met online this week with at least six provincial cabinet ministers to bring Thunder Bay concerns to the table.

Those concerns included police services funding, future contracts for the local Bombardier plant, the Thunder Bay Expressway project, and a crisis centre for mental health and addictions.

“Overall, our efforts at connecting with Provincial Ministers to discuss our priorities were a success,” said Councillor McKinnon, Chair of Intergovernmental Affairs Committee. “We had time to speak to key issues facing our city and region, including lobbying for crucial projects in our community.”

The delegation was led by McKinnon, Mayor Bill Mauro, and City Manager Norm Gale,
