City Needs Help Funding Report Recommendations

The City of Thunder Bay is going to need help to pay for implementing the recommendations from two major reports on the police service and its board.

Mayor Bill Mauro is flagging this as a concern for taxpayers.

“These recommendations, the financial consequences could be without a doubt in the millions of millions of dollars. I think it’s expected to be by everybody a large number.”

The Mayor tells us they’ll be lobbying for provincial and federal government funding to help implement the recommendations.

“We’re going to need help and the report from Senator Sinclair says nothing about the costs associated with implementing these recommendations. So I’m just trying to put everyone on the same page and make them aware that we are going to need help to manage this as a city.”
