John Hay’s tenure with the City of Thunder Bay is officially over.
City Manager Norm Gale is confirming the former Fire Chief is no longer employed by the city.
Gale indicates no further statements will be made regarding Hay who was with the city fire service for 35 years and served as chief since 2007.
The circumstances surrounding his final months remain a mystery.
Greg Hankkio’s term as Acting Fire Chief has been extended until September.
City officials say more information about recruitment for the fire chief position will be released soon.
