City Hopeful After Meeting With Provincial Ministers

It appears the provincial government may be interested in supporting the Managed Alcohol Program at the city’s homeless shelter.

Councillor Joe Virdiramo says that message was the takeaway from the province, after a city delegation met with cabinet ministers in Toronto this week.

Virdiramo says they made it clear to the health ministry the city won’t be funding it after this year.

He says the city would like the local health authority to pick up the annual $180,000 tab, adding the delegation felt the minister was receptive and took a serious interest in local concerns. (Photo supplied)
