Chiefs Put Out Another Plea For Help

The Chiefs of Ontario is renewing calls for urgent action from the provincial and federal governments to improve health care on northern reserves.

First Nations leaders recently declared a public-health emergency, urging lawmakers to address deficiencies in health care services within 90 days.

Chief Isadore Day says mainstream Canada would never tolerate the level of health care in their communities, noting institutional racism in Canada’s and Ontario’s health-care system.

Day says they’re hoping the new Liberal government in Ottawa will finally right the wrongs of the past.
