City Flags To Remain Lowered

Flags at Thunder Bay City Hall will continue to fly at half-mast in honour of residential school victims, survivors, and their families.

They were first lowered on May 31st after the discovery of the remains of 215 children found in Kamloops, British Columbia, and 751 unmarked graves in Cowessess First Nation, Saskatchewan.

In recognition of the discoveries of 182 graves in Cranbrook, British Columbia, and 160 graves discovered in Penelakut Island, city officials say they will remain that way until further notice.

A National Indian Residential School Crisis Line has been set up to provide support for former residential school students. The toll-free line can be accessed 24 hours a day, seven days a week by calling 1-866-925-4419.
