City Approves Plan For Ash Trees

City taxpayers are being asked to fork out $6.3 million dollars over ten years to fight the emerald ash borer.

Thunder Bay council voted for the motion last night, that will save 50-percent of the trees, and remove the remaining ones that die from the borer.

Councillor Andrew Foulds says trees play a huge function in our city, including storm sewer management.

Foulds says the federal government must contribute because the ash borer is a federal issue. (File photo)
