Chamber Endorses Proposed City Cost Cutting

Top marks from the Chamber of Commerce for the city’s program and services review.

President Charla Robinson stresses the report does much more than suggest closing the Botanical Conservatory or selling Port Arthur Stadium.

“Thirty-eight of the 45 recommendations speak to higher strategic process issues, technology opportunities…ways to change the way you do business as a city,” says Robinson.

The chamber president adds this is the time for the city “To get serious” about implimenting the suggestions and recommendations in the report.

She says “That’s what we need to do, that is the type of reimagining of city administration and administrative processes that will result in long term savings.”
