The Regional hospital’s cardiac ward will benefit from Thunder Bay Mitsubishi’s Save-a-Heart car raffle.
Glenn Craig is the CEO of the hospital foundation, and tells us money from tickets sold for a brand new Mitsubishi, a trip on Porter airlines and a Power Centre entertainment centre will help.
“The next big step is cardiac surgery, that’s going to require a build… new OR’s, new equipment, about 65 new positions as well. This is a big project, this is about a $65-million project.”
Jeff Witiluk is the GM of the Mitsubishi dealership, and tells us why he feels it’s vital to raise money to expand the open heart surgery ward.
“My dad had to have open heart surgery, we had to go to away, actually to Ottawa, a few years ago. So, we went down for a few days, we weren’t able to stay with him the whole time, or go visit him everyday.”
Glenn Craig notes the success of the draw.
“Every draw we seem to sell more and more tickets, we have probably raised close to $200,000 over the years, with these draws, and that money has gone into buy the equipment for our cardiovascular program.”
The draw is January 9th, with the $20 tickets (3 for $50) available at the Mitsubishi dealership, Balmoral Park Acura, J&J Sports, The Power Centre, the Porter airline desk, and the Robins Donuts at the hospital.
