Candidates Set For Thunder Bay Municipal Elections

The deadline to run in the upcoming municipal elections has come and gone.

Candidate applications had to be submitted by 2 p.m. Friday in Thunder Bay.

There are 59 people who have thrown their names into the hat in the hopes of becoming a member of the future Thunder Bay City Council.

That includes five people who are vying for the mayor’s chair.

Twenty-four candidates will be on the ballot running to become councillor-at-large.

Three are running for the Current River Ward, five in each of the Red River and Northwood wards, four each in the McKellar and Westfort wards, two in McIntyre, and six in the Neebing Ward.

Because of the number of people running, there will be no acclamations on October 24th, which is when residents will head to the polls to elect their next municipal council.
