A recent full page ad in the Chronicle Journal for Libertarian candidate Tamara Johnson isn’t sitting right with members of area First Nations.
In it the candidate says that no group of people own crown lands and that they are not native lands.
The Fort William First Nation calls her ad “racialism”. They feel she’s using Aboriginals as a scapegoat for any problems faced by non-First Nations.
Meanwhile, the Nishnawbe Aski Nation says Johnson’s statements are outrageous and disparaging against First Nation treaty rights.
