The Canadian Tire at the Thunder Centre is paying $60,000 after a worker fell around eight-and-a-half feet.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development explains it happened in June 2019, and the outlet was convicted this week.
The worker was helping to load an item onto a forklift on the second level of a storage area, and stepped into 46-inch-wide gap, falling to the first floor.
The Canadian Tire outlet has since installed a guardrail and developed a plan for working when the guardrail has to be removed.
