The head of the Thunder Bay Chamber of Commerce believes businesses are finishing 2020 with some strong connections because of the pandemic.
During the early days of COVID-19 spreading to Canada, Chamber President Charla Robinson says she saw establishments reaching out to help each other.
“[Partnerships] between delivery companies and grocery stores and restaurants, the partnerships between groups to develop PPE,” Robinson lists off.
Robinson says those partnerships will probably continue through the new year.
She notes many businesses also showed a lot of resiliency in finding new ways to operate.
“Maybe they’re adopted new technology they’ve never done before, or moved to online ordering,” Robinson points out.
“People making masks that had never been in the mask-making business or the hand sanitizer-making business” also impressed her this year.
She acknowledges the pandemic has made a huge impact on many people and their businesses, especially the tourism industry.
