One of Northwestern Ontario’s famous sons is urging the federal government to get involved in the Ring of Fire. Thunder Bay’s Derek Burney, the former chief of staff for Brian Mulroney, says it’s obvious that there’s a role for the federal government in the giant mining project. Burney says it’s important that the Minister of Natural Resources comes from the north and says he plans to speak with Greg Rickford about it, adding “you can count on me, to lean on him.” Burney was in the city to make a donation to Lakehead University.
