Boxing Relay Supports MS Society

A local fundraiser has brought in $19,000 for Thunder Bay’s chapter of the MS Society of Canada.

Jacquie Kennedy owns the Sweatclub Fitness Studio and helped start the fundraiser for her friend Marc Larocque who has the disease and works with the society.

The money was raised through a 12-hour boxing relay that was started 4 years ago.

Kennedy says she had hoped to bring in $20,000 but was a grand short.

She hopes to be able to raise even more money from next year’s event and one day would like to expand the fundraiser across Canada for all MS Society chapters.

MS Society Fundraising Coordinator Marc Larocque tells us he is thrilled by the amount raised and notes they’ve come along way since the first time they held the fundraiser.

Money stays local and goes towards MS Society programs and services.

The 12-hour relay was held on June 2nd and saw over 40 people take part.
