Border Cats Season Cancelled

The Border Cats 2020 season in Thunder Bay has been cancelled because questions surround when the Canada-U.S. border will reopen.

General Manager Tony DiPaolo explains the players are being loaned out to a newly formed team in Bismark, North Dakota. That team will then become part of a modified Northwoods League season. The format is still a work in progress.

“We’re just doing this so that the players can play and practice…with so much uncertainty in Canada (and because) we are the only Canadian team, we’re just giving players the option to go there,” indicates DiPaolo.

The Border Cats general manager promises the team will be back in Thunder Bay for the 2021 Northwoods League season.
