Our local Bombardier plant is getting an extra lifeline.
They landed another contract, this time for 11 commuter rail cars from California’s North County Transit District.
The agreement was signed on July 7, 2020.
The base order is valued at approximately $43 million US and includes eight coaches and two cab cars to support the San Diego Association of Governments. NCTD also has the option to purchase up to 27 additional cars to support its ongoing state of good repair needs.
Deliveries are scheduled to take place in the fall of 2022. After testing and commissioning, the cars will begin to enter service that winter.
