Bombardier Begins Ventilator Assembly

Our local Bombardier plant has officially started assembling ventilators to treat COVID-19 patients.

Officials announced today the full production line is now operating, and expect to send off around a dozen by the end of the day.

The company is partnering with O-Two Medical Technologies from Brampton, Ontario. They have been contracted to make 18,000 ventilators.

Workers are partly assembling and inspecting the ventilators, which are then sent to O-Two to be completed.

The plant’s General Manager Dave Black says they will increase production to “a few hundred” next week, and eventually increase to over 1,000 per week.

Bombardier announced the partnership on April 16, but work was delayed because O-Two’s supply chain was “completely disrupted” by COVID-19. A statement from the company says this will employ between 50 and 60 workers for the next three to four months.
