BluesFest Organizer Speechless Over Success

The success of Thunder Bay’s 2019 BluesFest has left its marketing director speechless, which he says is rare.

Trevor Hurtig points to how well it was run, the weather, and the top-notch performers, especially Bryan Adams, who he had nothing but praise for.

“The icing on the cake, took the festival to another level, he just seemed to have the audience in the palm of his hand, it was amazing.”

He adds he heard nothing but good comments from every performer, even in spite of a few glitches.

Hurtig noted some of that happened to Johnny Reid on Friday night.

“Johnny Reid’s monitor system gave him some trouble early on, and you saw it in the sound as it suffered a little bit. But apart from that, just some really minor stuff that we could tweek.”

Details for the 2020 Thunder Bay BluesFest will be ironed out starting today.

That’s due in part to what the marketing director tells us was the caliber of artists from this weekend, who told him how happy they were to be here.

“They said to them it looked like one of the more successful festivals they’ve played in, and they were really happy to be here.”

Hurtig adds next year’s plans include discussing who’ll be here.

“How did the artists make out, with the agents, we have those conversations, and if you like that artist, then we might have another one you might like.”

The marketing director is thanking everyone who showed up to support this event, including the sponsors.

And, following last night’s show, we took our news mic into the crowd, and asked what was the highlight of the weekend for you?
