Blues Festival Weekend Is Here

The wait is finally over…the Thunder Bay Blues Festival weekend is here with three days of fun and music planned for Marina Park.

Organizer Trevor Hurtig explains the most significant change is asking festival goers to enter the park through the pedestrian overpass at the end of Red River Road.

He emphasizes the move was made for public safety reasons because there has been trouble in the past with people congregating on the railway tracks at the Camelot Street entrance.

The gates open at 3 o’clock this afternoon and Hurtig asks you to have patience since there will be many people and long line-ups to deal with.

It’s also the first festival since cannabis became legal, but Hurtig explains, like cigarettes and vaping, you can’t smoke it on the festival grounds.

There will be health unit inspectors on site to enforce those rules.

The headline acts this year are Johnny Reid tonight, Bryan Adams tomorrow and Burton Cummings on Sunday with agents telling organizers their artists “are really, really excited to come.”
