Stay Hydrated During Hot Bluesfest

It’s going to be a pretty hot weekend at Bluesfest, and the Thunder Bay Health Unit wants to make sure you take care of yourself.

Public health nurse Judi Marton says it’s important to seek shade and keep hydrated.

Marton tells us the heat from the sun may feel good at first but can have an impact on your health.

“The body retains more heat when the temperature rises, so it’s essential to keep drinking fluids to avoid dehydration. I think you can bring a water bottle to Bluesfest so keep filling that up.”

Other health tips include wearing sunscreen, light clothing and a hat.

Symptoms of heat stroke include confusion, nausea and fainting. If you feel unwell, it’s advised you seek medical attention.
