Keeping the memories of war alive is important for many veterans, especially on a day like today.
This is Battle of the Atlantic Sunday.
Lieutenant Commander Robert Cooke, of the HMCS Griffon, explains it’s one of the most important battles of World War Two and without it, the allies may never have won.
He tells us there are still about nine battle veterans in the city who attend the service each year.
The service takes place at 11:45 at the HMCS Griffon.
This year’s commemoration marks the 75th anniversary of the sinking of HMCS Athabaskan.
