The pandemic themed school years starts for some today while for others get going later.
Lakehead Public Schools
Tuesday: First day for grades 4-8 ONLY and grades 9 and 11 ONLY
Wednesday: Year 2 Kindergarten, Grades 1-3 ONLY and grades 10 and 12 ONLY
Thursday: All students
- 85% of elementary students are set to return in-person, 86% of secondary students
- Schools removed furniture to create space in classrooms
- Desks were moved in instead of tables to ensure distancing between students
- Many protocols developed and shared around hand hygiene, cleaning, distancing
- Additional custodial provided to schools in order to ensure proper cleaning
- PPE provided to schools for staff and students
- Teachers and Early Childhood Educators hired lower class sizes to keep the number of students in a classroom low in kindergarten and primary classes, where masks are not mandatory
- Three days of training for staff to prepare for students
Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board
Tuesday: Learn at home begins; Grades 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 11 will be in class
Wednesday: Year 2 Kindergarten students in class along with Grades 1, 2, 3, 7, 10 and 12
NOTE: Year 1 Kindergarten students will stagger their entry between Wednesday and Friday
Thursday: All students in school
