Atikokan Mayor Seeking Re-Election

Atikokan’s long-time mayor is making another re-election bid.
Dennis Brown has held the position for the past 17 years, and is keen on continuing to head council for another four.
“I think I have a good insight of what the community needs, and how to go about achieving it, and I have the time to do it,” says Brown. “I just want to continue on, because we have some major projects out there that we certainly want to see to fruition.”
Brown adds job creation, a new landfill site, and infrastructure upgrades are among issues facing the community, though he says fostering a new economy remains a top priority for him.
“With proponents of projects like Rentech, and Resolute [Forest Products], and the Ontario Power Generation plant, and Bending Lake mining,” he says, “we want to do anything we can in a positive fashion to create more jobs for Atikokan.” (File photo)
