Assault Charges Upgraded To Murder

Two people from Thunder Bay each face a Second-Degree murder charge now that an assault victim has died of his injuries.

City police say they were called to the Limbrick Street area early Friday morning, to find an 18-year-old man seriously hurt.

They add Liam Slipperjack, of Thunder Bay, died on Sunday at hospital.

Over the weekend, police say they arrested 18-year-old Desomond Keewaykapow, charging him with aggravated assault, but that charge will be upgraded.

A second suspect, a 17-year-old youth from Thunder Bay, was arrested early Monday morning, and charged with Second Degree murder and failure to comply with a sentence.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
