Anna Gibbon Trial Set To Resume

A local Justice of the Peace will have their misconduct hearing resume.

The actions of Anna Gibbon during her son’s failure to yield case are currently being considered, and it will be determined whether she acted inappropriately or used her position to influence the case.

The proceedings Friday will begin with the Presenting Council wrapping up their submissions, effectively meaning they are concluding their arguments. This will be followed by Gibbon’s lawyer Eugene Bhattacharya having his opportunity to present his submissions before the end of the hearing.

Both sides have called numerous witnesses, some stating that Gibbon acted inappropriately around the time of her son’s case, while others praised her personality and professionalism.

It is unclear exactly when the hearing will conclude.

Gibbon faces a number of punishments should the complaint be upheld including a warning or reprimand, an apology or further education, a suspension with or without pay or a recommendation to remove Gibbon from office.

Gibbon has been reassigned to a court outside of Thunder Bay.
