Amusement rides back up and running at Chippewa Park

All but one of the rides at Chippewa Park are open once again.

The rides were closed following a storm on Canada Day, which cut the power in sections of the park.

Power has been restored, and all rides have been tested.

The rides are reopening on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.

The only ride that remains closed is the boat ride.

The city says the canopy over the ride was damaged and it has been removed for repairs.

Park staff have started work on clearing downed trees in the campground and RV park, but not enough progress has been made to reopen Whiskey Jack Road.

A downed power line in the area is slowing down cleanup efforts.

The day-use area at the park also remains closed until further notice.
