ALS Impacts 27 People In T.Bay

Today is the annual Walk to End ALS, a debilitating disease with no cure.

Spokesperson Kim Barry tells us each day two to three people die from ALS, with a similar number diagnosed, approximately 3,000 Canadians are living with ALS.

“There can be some really added expenses when dealing with a diagnosis of ALS. Equipment and modifications are quite expensive and it makes it difficult for people to stay in their homes.”

The annual walk is taking place at St. Ignatius High School and gets underway at 11 am.

Organizers say they’ve already reached their $30,000 fundraising goal.
