Thunder Bay’s Cava picked first overall in OHL U18 draft

With the first pick in the 2026 OHL U18 Priority Selection draft, the Oshawa Generals selected 16-year old Ethan Cava out of Thunder Bay’s Seventh Fire Secondary School Prep Hockey Program.

The 6’4 centre tallied 14 goals and 26 assists in 42 games last season. Before joining Seventh Fire, he spent two years with the Thunder Bay Kings AAA team.

Cava is the son of Lakehead University alum and former Sarnia Greyhounds captain Peter Cava. He is a cousin of two-time PWHL champion and Thunder Bay local Michaela Cava.

The official OHL draft for all ages begins on June 12.
