Let’s take grandma to the PROM.

Taking ‘grandma to the prom’!

For 14 years, a Wisconsin teenager kept a promise that started when he was just a toddler.

AND, last week, he finally made it happen.  Think about it – most highschoolers go to prom with their classmates, or boyfriends or girlfriends.  BUT, 17 year old Avant Williams walked into prom at La Crosse Central High School with his grandmother.  His grandmother grew up in Iceland, where prom traditions weren’t a common thing.  But being in the States, and watching tv shows and movies filled with these fabulous proms, she always wondered what it would be like.

Her grandson took that dream – and made it a reality.  Before the prom, Avant and his grandma posed for photos with his friends, and gave her the full ‘prom night experience’.  Dancing, laughing, sharing stories……..and lots of smiles.

Avant said that making good on his promise since he was 2 ½ years old – is the greatest memory so far of his life.  Talk about a dream come true.
