It is with great sadness that the family of Lloyd William Sitch announces his peaceful passing on April 25, 2026.
Lloyd was born in Port Arthur, raised in O’Connor Township, and later became a longtime resident of Westfort. He met the love of his life, Gloria, at a dance, and they were married on February 13, 1960. Together, they recently celebrated 66 years of marriage. They built a life filled with love and raised four sons: Bradley, Leonard, Robert, and Wayne.
Lloyd was a natural teacher and mentor, self-taught in many trades. Throughout his life, he generously shared his knowledge and skills with his sons, grandchildren, and anyone fortunate enough to know him.
His home was always welcoming, coffee was on, a game of Yahtzee or cribbage was ready to be played, and good conversation was never in short supply. Lloyd was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many memorable trips with his closest friends Ron and Tom, his brother Garry, and his sons and grandsons. He was also a dedicated gardener who took great pride in his work, earning bragging rights for growing the largest potatoes on the block.
Lloyd began his career at Great Lakes Forest Products and Canadian Car before eventually starting his own business, Lloyd’s Backhoe Service.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria; his sons Bradley, Robert, and Wayne (Maureen); daughter-in-law Debbie; his siblings George Sitch (Audrey), Joan Strugal (Ed), and Lorraine Acheson (John); and his grandchildren Dawn, Cathy, Lucas, Nicole, Matthew, Cody, Amber, Brandi, Douglas, and Kyle. He will also be dearly missed by his many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Lloyd was predeceased by his son Leonard; his parents Alfred and Alice Sitch; and his siblings Marion Otway (DeCorte), Kenneth Sitch, Garry Sitch, and Bernice Smith.
Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Lloyd’s life will be held at a later date.
