Neebing township declares local emergency in Sturgeon Bay Road area

A local emergency has been declared in Neebing Township.

This is due to a structural failure of a culvert that has been identified on Sturgeon Bay Road, just west of the Mink Mountain Drive intersection.

Municipal officials say the road remains open, but the condition of the culvert could worsen, leading to a total collapse without notice, forcing the road closed.

The emergency declaration is limited to residents and property owners on Mink Mountain, Island Avenue and Margaret Street.

Sturgeon Bay Road is the only road into those areas, and a closure would isolate residents and impact access to emergency services, including ambulance, fire response, and evacuation if required.

Residents are being asked to limit their travels through the area.

The municipality says staff and emergency personnel are monitoring the area and coordinating next steps.

This includes panning for traffic control, maintaining emergency access, and preparing for other protective measures as required.
