Joseph (Joe) Michael Berezowski

It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of our beloved brother and  uncle, Joseph (Joe) Michael Berezowski, age 63 years, on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

Joe was born in Fort William on February 2, 1962 to John and Elsie (nee Pristanski) Berezowski.  He was educated locally and graduated from Westgate High School. He worked for Canadian  Pacific Railway as an Engineer until retirement.

Growing up, Joe and his family were able to spend a lot of time at his grandparents’ farm in  Sunshine. Lots of exploring, hikes, snowmobiling and driving the farm tractor kept him and his  siblings busy. A lot of great memories were made there.

Joe grew up in Westfort and eventually bought a home there, keeping with his Westfort roots.  He made friends out of his neighbours and enjoyed their company, often going for coffee with  Roger, and helping him and others when needed.

Joe had an affinity for two-wheeled vehicles. He owned numerous bicycles, two motorcycles  and an e-bike. Joe did a lot of road trips on his motorcycles with friends, including a trip to  Sturgis for one of the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, something he really enjoyed. He also  biked all around town, putting on miles per ride. With the acquisition of his e-bike, he was able  to extend some of those rides with ease.

He enjoyed his time with his nieces and nephews, playing with them as they grew up, and earned  a Favourite Uncle status for that. Joe had a fondness for animals, and had the best companion  ever in his beloved Maggie, a black Lab that went everywhere with him. He also had some cats  over the years, and fed some of the neighbourhood cats as well.

Joe is survived by his siblings Ron (Maria), Brian, Janice Finley, nieces and nephews Daniel,  Jonathan, Liana (James), Stephanie (Richard), Victoria (Brett) , brother-in-law Pat Finley, as  well as numerous cousins and extended family.

He was predeceased by his parents, John and Elsie Berezowski and his grandparents Joseph and  Eileen Pristanski.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at 11:00am in the WESTFORT  CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street at James. Visitation will take place one hour prior to the service at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Joe to Paws for Love or the Heart and Stroke  Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
