It is with deep sadness that we announce the unexpected passing of Joanne Knudsen-Bailey on December 14th, in Atikokan, Ontario.
Joanne is lovingly remembered by her mother, Norma Knudsen; her daughters Sara Cosco, Maj-Lis Bailey and Chloe Bailey; her grandchildren Mia and Russell Cosco, and Hera Sutcliff. She is also survived by her siblings Karen (Ron) and Karl (Marueen) Knudsen). She was predeceased by her father, Erik Knudsen and grandparents.
Joanne was a dedicated homecare nurse for many years. Her compassion left a lasting impact on her patients, many of whom became friends and extended family. She was known for her love of cooking and entertaining, her generous spirit, and her acceptance for all people and animals. She found the greatest peace and joy with her family at the Island on Shewbandewan Lake, enjoying her time cooking an amazing feast, a cold beer, hot sauna and a beautiful starry sky.
Joanne is now resting peacefully, reunited with her father and grandmother, no doubt having many laughs together. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to George Jeffery Children’s Centre in Thunder Bay. As per Joanne’s wishes there will be no funeral service. Arrangements are in care of the Sargent & Son Funeral Directors, 21 N. Court Street. On-line condolences may be made at www.sargentandson.com
