Thunder Bay man facing charges for driving under the influence with children in vehicle

A 23-year-old man from Thunder Bay has been charged after driving 25 km/hr over the speed limit with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 percent.

The Thunder Bay detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police pulled the accused over on December 5 for speeding along Lakeshore Drive in Shuniah.

Because the accused had his children in the vehicle at the time, he is facing a charge of failing to provide the necessities of life, in addition to charges of dangerous operation of a vehicle, operating while impaired by substances, and operating with an 80-plus blood alcohol concentration.

The accused has been released from police custody and will face the Ontario Court of Justice in Thunder Bay on January 21.
