Thunder Bay competition to creatively transform waste ends on Sunday

Thunder Bay Solid Waste & Recycling Services is running a contest to upcycle waste and old junk.

The recycling service defines upcycling as transforming unwanted products or waste into new items of greater (and more sentimental) value.

The contest, titled Ho Ho Hold the Waste, runs until Sunday, December 21.

Participants are tasked with sharing photos of their creations on Facebook with the hashtag #HoHoHoldTheWaste, with two prizes for winning items.

A youth prize for entrants under 18 will offer movie and bowling vouchers, while entrants over 18 can earn a gift basket of local items.

The full rules of the contest are available on the city website.
