David Campbell Mcrae Walker

September 17, 2025 – Age 67

Born in Aberfeldy, Scotland, and forever anchored to the shores of Lake Superior, David “Dave” Walker passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025, at the age of 67. He leaves behind a legacy of quiet strength, kindness, dry wit, and unwavering devotion.

Dave’s journey began in the Highlands, but his love of adventure led him to join the British Merchant Marine, sailing across oceans to every corner of the globe. In 1977, his travels brought him to Canada – a country he would call home for nearly five decades. It was in Thunder Bay that he met Gisele, the love of his life, and together they built a family rooted in warmth, laughter, and enduring love.

A skilled millwright and stationary engineer by trade, Dave had a mind for mechanics and a heart for craftsmanship. He found joy in rebuilding boats, collecting model trains, and listening to soulful blues. His humour was dry, sharp, and perfectly timed – never loud, but always memorable.

Dave is survived by his beloved wife Gisele; his children Deanna (Ray), Davey, and Sheena (Jon); and his cherished grandchildren Chanelle, Quinn, and Walker. He is also remembered by his beloved cousins Janet and Lucille. Each of them carries forward his quiet wisdom, his love of the lake, and his gift for seeing the world with wonder.

A casual celebration of Dave’s life will be held on Saturday, October 4th at 1:00 p.m. in the Solarium at the Slovak Legion in Thunder Bay. A light lunch will be served, and guests are encouraged to come as they are to share memories – jeans and t-shirts welcome.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Thunder Bay Model Railroaders, in honour of Dave’s lifelong passion for railways and craftsmanship.

He will be deeply missed and fondly

remembered – by those who knew him well,

and by those fortunate enough to have

shared even a moment in his orbit.
