1947-2025

Torsti Valdemar Landvik,  resident of Neebing Township passed away peacefully on September 20, 2025 in St. Joseph’s Hospital, Thunder Bay.

Torsti was born in Pomarkku, Finland on September 30, 1947 to Hemmo and Kerttu Landvik. As a child he immigrated to Canada in 1956, where he attended Central and Prospect Public Schools and Hillcrest High School during which time he was an accomplished track and field runner and hockey player. 

Upon graduation from Confederation College he was employed by Manitoba Pool Elevators, Great Lakes Pulp and Paper and later was an active member of the Thunder Bay Farmers Market.

He is survived by his sister Arja Landvik of Toronto and relatives in both Canada and Finland.

He was predeceased by his parents as well as numerous relatives in both countries.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday October 2, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. in the EVEREST FUNERAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma, with Rev. Jari Lahtinen officiating. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.  Should friends so desire, donations may be made to Hilldale Lutheran Church or a charity of your choice.
