Fire extinguished at homeless encampment

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue says no one was hurt as a result of a fire at an encampment near Simpson Street.

The blaze broke out shortly after midnight.

Calls to the fire department said tents were on fire and propane tanks were exploding.

Fire fighters quickly brought it under control and prevented it from spreading to other tents in the area.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
