One person sustained burns and was treated for smoke inhalation following a structural fire on Brock Street East.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded around noon on Monday, December 2, after receiving multiple 911 calls reporting visible smoke and flames coming from the front of a residence.
The fire was upgraded to a second alarm when information suggested one individual was inside and another was attempting to re-enter.
Upon arrival, firefighters located the individual outside the home. The person had safely exited but had suffered burns from the fire.
Paramedics assessed and treated the individual on scene before transporting them to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre with non-life-threatening injuries.
Firefighters quickly contained the fire, limiting damage to the home’s main floor, which sustained significant smoke and fire damage.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
