Ringing Church Bells In Support Of Ukraine

Thunder Bay’s Christian community will come together to ring bells in support of Ukraine.

It’s part of a worldwide effort to demonstrate solidarity with Ukrainian people under attack by Russia.

The initiative was the brainchild of Larysa Turko who grew up in Dnipro, a city of about one million people in eastern Ukraine.

“I’m also hoping that starting with Thunder Bay, the idea of ringing church bells will spread across all of Canada as a symbol of solidarity with Ukraine,” Turko said.

Turko has family in Ukraine who have fled for their lives to Poland.

The bells will toll for at least one minute beginning at 11:00 a.m. Sunday.
