UPDATE: Two Face Charges In Hurkett Standoff

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) levy charges against a pair of men for their part in a standoff in Hurkett Township.

A 25-year-old from Chatsworth and a 34-year-old from Brampton are being held in Thunder Bay for bail hearings after OPP attempted to stop the vehicle in question on Highway 11/17 at Davis Road Tuesday afternoon.

Shots were fired at the officers, who engaged the individual and returned fire.

There were no injuries to any of the officers or the suspects, but due to the nature of the incident the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate.

The SIU investigates the conduct of officials that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.

In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
