Third Arrested In Historic Human Trafficking Case

A 43-year-old Thunder Bay woman is the latest apprehended in what police are calling an historic human trafficking case.

The third accused in the ongoing investigation that began in May 2021 faces three charges of Procuring, as well as a charge of Sexual Exploitation and Living On Avails of Prostitution Under 18.

The Human Trafficking Unit identified a victim, who they learned was forced into prostitution at the age of 14, and incidents of human trafficking continued between 1998 and 2000.

A 63-year-old woman, also from Thunder Bay, appeared in bail court in October to face the same charges.

A 52-year-old man of Girvin, Saskatchewan faces an additional charge of Assault with a Weapon. He was remanded into custody after his bail appearance on November 18.

  • Originally from southern Ontario, Jason found his way here and fell in love with the community and music scene of Thunder Bay over twenty years ago. In between various stints on radio, television and writing, Jason is a dad, a partner and (some would consider) a zoo keeper (seriously, he has a LOT of pets).
