TODAY IN THE BAY! (Thursday, November 25, 2021 edition)

Weekday mornings at 6:20, 7:20 and 8:50…..I highlight some interesting stories that you can share with your family / friends. It’s called “TODAY IN THE BAY”.

It’s one month until Christmas Day. A new poll from the Canadian Press says 50% of Ontarians say they’re going to ditch social distancing over the holidays. The hugs, the kisses, the handshakes with friends and family will return! 18 to 34 year old’s seem to be the most comfortable wanting to do this!

If you’ve been around the County Fair Plaza parking lot off East Avenue, you know it’s looking a bit different lately. Some new businesses are coming there, including Burger King, a bank, and a new gas station. The gas station is called “SIMPLY GAS”, and they’ve been selling their gas cheaper than the average $1.55 a litre (almost 20 cents cheaper). The company is new to the Canadian market!

File this under: “you can’t make this stuff up”. Walmart has pulled a children’s toy off its shelves and its website. It’s called the “Dancing Toy Talking Cactus Twist Learning Toy”. It sold for $26. It’s described as an ‘educational toy that sings songs in English, Spanish and Polish”. An Ontario grandmother was shocked when she turned it on for her 15 month old granddaughter, and it started swearing and rapping about doing cocaine. She’s Polish, and she understood it all. Complaints about this particular Cactus go back almost five months. The Polish rapper says he plans to sue the Chinese company for using his song without permission. My question is: how did that rap song even end up in this ‘dancing cactus’? LOL
